President's Message - August 2008

Welcome to the GAS web site.

I think we have good people on the Board, some are holdovers and some are new.

John Bocchino is our Vice PREZ. He is also our webmaster.

John McClow has volunteered to become the Renegade newsletter editor again with 4 issues per year. Speaking of newsletters, we are hoping to get people to download their Renegade on the website. If you download the newsletter, your copy will be in color. You should get in the habit of checking the website maybe once a week to see what’s happening.

We also have some younger people on the Board now: John Turco, Jason Becker, and Eric Grand.

Next, I want to list our accomplishments so far this Spring. They are:

• The Renegade (newsletter) published
• Held General meeting on 4/29
• 2 new members
• Curecanti Mitigation committee formed
• Resource project – stocking Hofer Rainbows in September
• Pacman Pond donation of $500 made
• Took part in Kids Fishing Day on June 7.
• Received a donation from the Orvis Guides Conclave of $1,114.

We discussed many possible plans for the coming year. These include:

• Signed up for booth at River Awareness Celebration in August with Willowfly Anglers
• Pursuing mitigation for Blue Mesa again
• Gunnison Navy show in Spring 2009
• Superfly Sept. 12 & 13th
• Youth Conservation Weekend camp next year
